Benefits of the UK Innovator Founder Visa
The UK Innovator Founder visa offers a fast route to permanent residency. Successful entrepreneurs can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after just 3 years.
You enjoy the flexibility to work for your own business. There is no minimum investment fund requirement. This UK Innovator Founder visa also allows you to bring your partner and children as dependants.
Eligibility for the Founder route
An Endorsing Body must assess your business plan. It must be original, viable, and scalable. Your concept should also show potential for job creation.
To qualify for the UK Innovator Founder visa, you must be at least 18 years old. You need to meet the English language requirement at Level B2. You must also have enough personal savings to support yourself.
Innovator visa application process
First, you must secure an Endorsement Letter. You will pitch your business concept to an approved Endorsing Body. This is a critical step for any successful applicant.
Once endorsed, submit your formal application to the Home Office. You will need to provide biometrics and supporting documents. These must prove you meet all eligibility strands.
Founder visa processing times
Decisions for overseas applications usually take 3 weeks. This timeframe starts after your biometric appointment.
If switching within the UK, the standard time is 8 weeks. Priority services may be available. These can fast-track your UK Innovator Founder visa application to 5 working days.
Visa fees and costs
The standard fee is £1,191 for overseas applicants. If applying from within the UK, the fee is £1,486.
You must also pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). Additionally, Endorsing Bodies typically charge a fee of £1,000 to review your business plan.
