The UK Border Agency have published their fees for processing immigration applications which will take effect as of 6 April 2013.
Immigration Minister, Mark Harper said:
‘These increases are mostly in line with inflation and will ensure that the UK continues to welcome the brightest and the best. It is only right that those who use and benefit from the immigration system should contribute more than the UK taxpayer.’
We have hand-picked some of the fee changes as follows:
- Tier 1 applications made under Entrepreneur, Investor and Exceptional Talent routes will increase from £1,020 to £1,051
- Applications fees for Settlement applications will increase from £991 to £1,051
- Naturalisation fees will increase from £851 to £874
The most interesting announcement is for applications made under European Law. For the first time ever all types of applications for residence documents issued to EEA nationals and their family members as well documents certifying permanent residency will incur a fee of £55.
Further, dependants will now be charged at 75% of the main applicant’s fees and it is has been proposed that the UKBA will, in future, charge dependants fees at the same rate as the main applicant. This would be with a view to bring it in line with procedures concerning out of country applications.
